Convection is the transfer of heat through a medium by the movement of the heated particles. Convection currents are evident in weather, wind, heating and cooling systems, hot water tanks, and hundreds of other applications. This apparatus will allow you to see the currents as they travel through the glass tubing. American Educational Products #7-303.

Additional materials needed for experiment: water, food coloring, heat source or candle, a stand and/or clamp to hold the apparatus during heating.
