Our story begins with Michigan Medical Supply, founded in 1954 by Raymond Benz in Ann Arbor, Michigan. With an entrepaneurial heart, and his wife, Alma, empoyed as a nurse at the University of Michigan, Ray created his opportunity for the all Amerian dream.

A success from the start, it soon became apparent that a division was necessary to focus on microscope sales and service ("focus" - pun totally intended!). To help navigate this new path, Ray invited his son, Robert Benz, to join the company. Having served our country in the U.S. Army on the west cost, Bob packed up his young family, drove across country back to his home town, and became the second generation of the story.

Together they built a respected, nationwide dealership for the top microscope manufacturers in the industry. Bob worked with schools, universities, and a wide array of businesses, to build the best microscope system for each specific appliation. With customer service being paramount, Ray became a Manufacturer Certified Repair Specialist to provide full circle sales, service, and maintenance, in one house. This set Benz Microscope apart from other microscope "sellers", and thus, began what would become the company's foothold and specialty.

Bob's wife, LaLoie, joined the team adding her administrative and customer service skills to the operation. Then, as their son, Michael, began to shadow his Grandfather in the repair room at the age of 12, destiny would make him the third generation of Benzes to work within the company. 

Mike continued to follow the footsteps of his Grandfather and his Dad, from the repair bench to the sales floor, to state and national science conventions. He, too, completed the manufacturer's training to become a Repair Specialist and Authorized Technician. Solidifying his place in this third-generation operation, Mike took the helm as President in 1999. His wife, Terri, joined the company in 2010, to help oversee operations. 

The company remained a staple in Ann Arbor until June of 2020. Deemed an essential business during COVID, we continued to serve our accounts, and moved the business to the beautiful countryside of Manchester, Michigan. Our mission has remained the same for over 70 years: To deliver quality merchandise, offer dependable service, and maintain reasonable prices for our valued customers.
