Good price but pins could be better

The pins seem straight and sharp, but the heads are often a little off-center (which makes me wonder whether they might more easily detach long-term), and the heads are also rather large, about half as wide again as heads on similar pins I bought maybe 20 yrs back. Maybe it’s a change in style but it’s suboptimal in my opinion.

Thank you for the honest review. Many suppliers from 20 years ago are no longer in business. We offered Hamilton Bell pins for several years before switching to BioQuip when H-B closed. BioQuip was a well respected supplier for decades, but closed themselves in recent years. We now source our pins directly from the same factory BioQuip used. They are made in the Czech Republic, and superior to other brands we had tried before the switch. We do understand your frustration, and we're sorry the pins didn't meet your expectations. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Fantastic customer service

Insect pins are harder to find since Bioquip closed and Paradox Insect (in Poland) won’t ship to me. These pins are good quality at a good price. More importantly, the customer service for this company is fantastic. I ordered insect pins and they were larger than I wanted. They sent me a complimentary pack of the smaller size to compare pins. They then helped me return the pins that were too big and order the smaller size. They took the time to help me, even though my order was only $55. I am so glad that I found Benz Microscope. I highly recommend this company.

Thank you very much for the kinds words and wonderful photo! (Dragonfies are a personal favorite of mine.) It was our pleasure to help you find what you needed. Did you know that we use the same manufacturer that BioQuip used? We had a great relationship with BioQuip before they closed. Having similar values, we felt it was important to carry on wtih the same quality we had sourced from them. Our forceps are made by the maufacturer they used, too! We look forward to hearing from you again.

Are the pins sharp and straight?
Yes. Reviewers report that the pins are straight and sharp, suitable for the detailed work required in entomology.
How do these pins compare to older designs?
One experienced user notes that the gold nylon heads on these pins are noticeably larger than heads on similar pins from 20 years ago, which may be a style change in the industry.
Do the heads stay centered on the shaft?
One reviewer noted that some pin heads appear slightly off-center, raising questions about long-term durability of the head attachment, though this was not a common complaint across reviews.
Are these good value for the price?
Reviewers describe the pins as good quality at a good price, and note they are harder to find since similar brands stopped production or stopped shipping to certain regions.
Can I customize which sizes I receive?
