Nutrient Agar Powder, 8g (#BZ0076)
- Carefully blended for consistency and reliability
- Easily prepared with water
- Longer shelf life than ready-to-use media
- Economical alternative
Instructions: Mix 1 level teaspoon (approximately 2.2 grams) of dehydrated nutrient agar with 100 ml (3/8 cup) of room-temperature water. Bring to a boil while stirring to ensure the agar is completely dissolved and to sterilize. Pour 10-12 ml hot agar in each petri dish, just covering the bottom. Replace the dish top immediately after pouring to prevent contamination. Let dishes stand 1 hour for agar to solidify. This recipe makes 100 ml of nutrient agar solution, enough to cover 8-10 standard 90 mm petri dishes.
